Iris

How we got started.

Iris was a stray dog who had been living out in a field for many months in Homeland. When she was found she had with her two, approximately 6 month old, puppies. We have no idea how she got there, or how long she had been there. Mike Noon was the trapper who caught Iris and her pups and she was taken to a place of safety.

3 months after she was caught,  Kathy Haley, founder of Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary,  found out about Iris and immediately took her under the "Hope Ranch wing". This is where I came in. I was a rescue partner to Kathy and  Iris came into our home as a foster. She was a very sweet girl who got along with my dogs and family and she  stayed with us for quite a few months and in that time we helped her to socialize and to learn how to be a dog again. Months went by until we eventually thought that Iris was ready for her own forever home.
She attended several adoption events until one day we thought we found the right match for her. Sadly she was only with her new adopters for a few days when Iris got away from them. We had many sightings of her but we were unable to catch her and to be honest, we really didn't know about trapping at the time. It breaks my heart to say it but after her last sighting on December 13th 2018 we never heard of her again.

Our whole family were heartbroken.   We all think of her often and hope that she found a safe place to be and is living to an old age.

I have since learned a lot about trapping, mainly from Mike Noon and have now become a trapper myself to  help save more dogs like Iris. If I had known back then what I know now Iris would have still been a part of our lives.
